the power of action
Empowerment refers to the process of acquiring power, the ability to exercise it, and the actual degree of control exercised by individuals.

This empowerment is based on a set of principles of action that serve as guidelines for the strategies deployed by community intervention workers in their practice:
  • The establishment of egalitarian and reciprocal relations between all parties;
  • Building the capacity, resources and strengths of individuals and the community;
  • Intervention in the immediate environment of the individual;
  • Ensuring active involvement of individuals in their development and claims of their rights;
  • Direct intervention to marginalized and/or powerless people and groups.
